The J. R. Oppenheimer Memorial Committee is completing plans for a series of events in the spring of 2022 to celebrate its 50th anniversary. There will be a commemorative exhibit at the Mesa Public Library from March 24 to April 24, 2022 highlighting the notable Memorial Lecture speakers, scholarship support, and other activities of the committee. We are also planning several panel discussions and lectures about the remarkable life of J.R. Oppenheimer and his legacy:

  • March 21st: “Pajarito Plateau before the Manhattan Project,” discussion hosted jointly by JROMC and Pajarito Environmental Education Center,
    streamed virtually on Zoom
  • April 4th: “MANHATTAN: The View from Los Alamos of History’s Most Secret Project,” talk by Alan B. Carr, Senior Los Alamos National Laboratory
